2025

This mural, painted on reclaimed wood boards and reading NO I.C.E., is my offering to the community of Inglewood and the greater City of Los Angeles. It is a message of solidarity—a clear and unwavering declaration: There is NO I.C.E. at the Crenshaw Dairy Mart. Not this summer, not ever. This work is a direct response to the violent I.C.E. raids impacting our neighbors and families here in Los Angeles.

“Revolutionary art gives a physical confrontation with tyrants, and also enlightens the people to continue their vigorous attack by educating the masses through participation and observation.”
~ Emory Douglas, ART AND SOCIAL CHANGE

As an artist, I believe it is my responsibility and duty to index these moments—both as witness and participant—and to lift nuestra gente through the power of Revolutionary Art. I encourage others to do the same. Make art. It is a healing practice that helps regulate the nervous system, spreads the gospel of love, educates, and builds collective protest.

I feel deep frustration, anger, sadness, and anxiety watching our families, friends, and neighbors harmed by this administration. But I also feel empowered to transform this energy into action—into hope, into resistance, into love. I stand in the belief that we must all show up on the honest side of history. This is a marathon. I pray to the divine forces and our ancestors to grant us the courage to love boldly and to protect ourselves and one another.

Ashe.
